(PharmaNewsWire.Com, September 28, 2017 ) Radiofrequency ablation devices are used to treat medical conditions such as cancer tumors with the help of imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT) , magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) , and ultrasound by using minimally invasive (MI) techniques. This involves the use of high-frequency electromagnetic waves to generate heat energy (alternating current) . Radiofrequency ablation is used by surgeons to destroy cancerous cells, and remove or trim obstructive tissues and dead nerves. The process is carried out by inserting a special needle through the skin onto the tumor. The procedure targets specific tissue/nerve with radiofrequency electrical energy, heating the tumor through an active exposed electrode tip.
