Chikungunya is a mosquito borne viral disease caused by the RNA virus belonging to the alphavirus genus of family Togaviridae. Symptoms usually appear within a week of infection. Fever and joint pain come on suddenly. Muscle pain, headache, fatigue and rash may also occur.

Also common: headache, persistent joint pain, or skin rash
